Since the 18th Century, Francis Street has been synonymous with the finest furniture and skilled craftsmanship. Located in this quieter part of the city, tucked away just past the old city wall, Dublin’s Art & Antique Quarter really is worth a visit and a great place to live. Stroll past Christ Church Cathedral and into Dublin’s historic Liberties which surround Francis Street to see the small terraced red brick houses that make up much of old Dublin. Close to the quirky antique shop-lined Francis Street we recommend the lovely Café Irie for a coffee and delicious sandwich break or the recently opened Liberty Kitchen.
With its array of antiques, curios, contemporary art, handcrafted stationery, objects d’art, artisan foods, antique jewellery, beautiful Irish silver and a wealth of other collectible pieces, Francis Street is really is a cool city quarter. There is also a couple of cosy pubs on the street.
