Dundrum
Dundrum is a southside suburb and a well-connected part of south Dublin, located south of Churchtown and Clonskeagh, and north of Sandyford and Ballinteer. It’s bordered by Rathfarnham to the west and Goatstown and Mount Merrion to the east. The village main street is lined with pretty cottages, and many now being used to offer local services and there is a real community spirit in the area.
Dundrum Town Centre is right in its core and is the largest shopping Centre in Ireland with exclusive retailers such as Superdry, BT2, Hamleys and Harvey Nichols.
There is no shortage of green space to enjoy with the nearby Airfield Estate and Ballawley Park and the Dublin mountains only a few minutes’ drive away.
Airfield Estate is a stunning 38-acre estate, and is within walking distance to Dundrum town centre. This estate provides woodland walks, horticultural gardens, food gardens, toddler play area and at Christmas transforms into a Christmas Grotto.
This area is well serviced by bus options and the Dundrum green LUAS line provides ease of access to the city centre and it is also convenient to the M50.
History & Culture
Dundrum for the majority means the shopping centre. However, Dundrum was originally a town in its own right with archaeological finds in the area going back to the 6th century, and home to a castle by the 13th century, which was an important protection from raiders from outside the Pale.
The arrival of the railway in 1854 brought growth, and gradually the old village was incorporated into greater Dublin.
The arrival of the new Dundrum town centre in 2005 has since remained one of Ireland’s and most loved and visited shopping centres.

Dundrum Town Centre is home to an array of restaurants for all occasions from casual everyday options through to upmarket choices. Options include The Counter, Jamie’s Italian, the Port House, Siam Thai and Mao.
Hidden away in Dundrum, Ananda is a fancy Indian choice, ideal for a special occasion and is one that you have to visit.
Airfield Estate brings a wonderful taste of the countryside to Dundrum. The estate has its own restaurant which overlooks stunning gardens and is considered to be one of the best brunch spots in Dublin.
Brickyard is a restaurant and gastropub with whopper pints and food options and the first choice for many.
The Dundrum House is a welcoming choice on the main street servicing great bar food.
Uncle Tom’s Cabin is a lively local option with a reputation for great Guinness.

The main street in Dundrum village is home to many local businesses including a Lidl for a weekly shop.
Other neighbourhood offerings
There are a number of wonderful river walks around Dundrum that lead you as far as the beautiful Marley park.
