      Sandyford

Given there has been a huge demand for housing, Sandyford has still maintained its nice village centre for the residents to enjoy a collection of local services. Referred to as the smart place to live for those looking for a desirable lifestyle and a chance to enjoy a peaceful modern environment, close to town. It is perfect for professionals and families with multiple housing options to choose from. Sandyford Business District makes up much of this area and is home to over 500 companies. Microsoft has over 1,000 employees and there is a significant workforce at Vodafone's Irish Head Quarters. Wicklow is only ten minutes by car and the heart of Dublin is approx. 25 minutes by tram.  The Luas Green Line serves the area with many Dublin bus routes into the city centre including a local service to Blackrock. It is also conveniently situated next to the M50 for access to anywhere in the country. HISTORY & CULTURE Sandyford House is the original house of Sandyford and dates to the late 1700’s. Steeped in local history the existing house has been beautifully restored bringing it back to its original form. Today, it is a wonderful and relaxed local bar where friends and family gather to enjoy good food and drinks. Sandyford Business District is home to Imaginosity, Ireland’s only interactive children’s museum providing the best fun learning. EDUCATION There are two primary schools and one secondary school in the area. St. Mary’s Woodside National School and Queen of Angels Primary School offer great co-ed options. Rosemont Secondary School is an excellent option for girls. The Nord Anglia International school opened in 2018 as a private option and provides world-class teaching.   DINE & DRINK There are lots of great food options in Sandyford with over 30 restaurants in the area. Anyone with a love for Asian cuisine will be well looked after with several Japanese, Thai, and Indian restaurants.  There are multiple cafes and coffee shops to enjoy a fresh brew and a slice of cake. There are two pubs in the area, Sandyford House Bar and Restaurant which has been recently refurbished offering tasty food, fine wine, craft beers and delicious cocktails in a warm and comfortable setting. Ollie’s Bar and Lounge has also been newly renovated and offers good food options including carvery with some of the best live bands on show over weekends. Every week there is a local fresh food market and a must for the professionals to enjoy freshly made hot lunch options and homemade sweets. SHOP Sandyford Village is set out along Sandyford Road where you will find several small independent shops and services. Beacon South Quarter shopping centre is also located right in Sandyford and is home to Woodies, EZ Living, Mindy Browne’s Interiors and BoConcept. In Sandyford Business District, you can find a large Dunnes Stores and an Aldi for your weekly shop and there is a large SuperValu close by. Ballawley Park is a firm favourite for families with children’s playgrounds and lots of wonderful walks. Fitzsimon’s Wood is close by, offering a more rugged unspoiled option as a natural forest with a chance to see one of its residents, the small herd of Sika deer. Right at the foot of the Dublin mountains is Ticknock Forest, less than a 10-minute drive, and a popular destination for mountain bikers. Airfield Estate is a stunning 38-acre estate, close by in Dundrum. This estate provides beautiful woodland walks, horticultural gardens, food gardens, and a toddler play area.
